I'm sure you'll agree that this is an incredibly big mission—one that for most people would appear not only impossible but foolish to even attempt.
I believe that when something is extremely significant and you're sure you have both the ability and the understanding to make it happen, then it is your responsibility to do everything you can to make it a reality.
The fact that I’m even prepared to put these words out there, will tell you that I believe this mission is extremely significant.
Music is without question one of the most powerful mediums of connection that we have as humans.
No matter where we live in the world or what culture we are from, music is so important to us, that we need it as much as we need water and food.
You should also know, that I didn’t come to be on this mission on a whim—I’ve been on this journey for the best part of fourteen years.
In this time, I’ve been in business with both independent and major music companies at the highest level.
I’ve developed a new business model (and proven that it worked in spectacular fashion) and in the past four years I’ve personally undertaken over five thousand 1-to-1 video calls with artists from all over the world.
On this path I’ve encountered, discovered and witnessed firsthand a wide range of troubling, immoral and highly unfair practices. My belief is that much of the music business is fundamentally broken and that somebody needs to be bold enough to come up with an alternative solution.
I’ve decided to be the person to lead the charge towards the change I want to see.
As I embark on this mission, I do so with my eyes wide open—the powers that be will no doubt try to stop me (they already did!)—but, with a level of clarity, understanding and determination that will see me utilize not only the experience of the past fourteen years, but of my entire life so far as an entrepreneur.
I’m truly excited, because I believe that not only is this mission achievable, but that the demand for it is so big—not just from artists and people who work with artists, but equally by the wider population—and that it can happen much faster than anyone would believe were possible.
My single objective with creating this Substack is to use it as a way to galvanize and activate a community of people who believe in this mission as much as I do myself.
If you’re here reading this and you consider yourself to be in the ‘wider population’ category of person, my plea is for you to subscribe to receive my updates—your support is greatly needed and my promise to you is that you’ll learn things about the exiting music business that will horrify, shock and move you to want to see major change happening.
This initial pre-launch post is designed to whet your appetite to entice you to sign up (for free) ready for the first official post which is coming on January 1st.
This first post will be titled ‘I realized that nobody in the music business knows that they’re doing’ and it’s a follow up to the hit interview I did with Music Business Worldwide in 2018 with the same title. This interview is being conducted by my good friend and world renowned growth hacker Vin Clancy—when you signup for my Substack you’ll also get the option to join his Substack… I highly recommend that you do so!
I’ll be posting every day between January 6th and February 24th (and beyond!).
February 24th is significant, because this is the date I’ll be rebooting my music company High Time to be the entity that will become the Biggest and Fairest Music Company in the World.
When you subscribe to my Substack now, you’ll learn between now and then, not only why I believe this mission is significant, but also how I plan to make it a reality.
